AssignedOncethe estate lending registry

Has this inheritance already been assigned?

A shared registry for probate and estate lenders. Check in seconds whether the person in front of you has already assigned their inheritance to another firm.

An inheritance can only be assigned once.

Your borrower assigns you their whole entitlement, and you advance a share of its value against it. After that they have nothing left to assign. Anyone who goes to a second lender is offering a right they no longer hold.

These loans are non-recourse. Your security is the entitlement and nothing else. If it has already been assigned, there is nothing behind your advance and no borrower to pursue.

The gap that makes this happen is easy to miss. You advance a percentage of the expected inheritance, so a borrower who has taken 60% can believe the other 40% is still theirs to use. It is not: the assignment carried the whole entitlement. And rolled-up interest eats that apparent headroom anyway, over a probate that can run a year or more.

You cannot see that happening. The first firm has no reason to tell you, the borrower has every reason not to, and the estate will not settle for months. By the time the executor pays out and there is nothing to collect, the money is long gone.

It is worst before the grant, which is when most of this lending happens. There is no probate reference to check against and nothing to connect one application to another.

How it works

  1. Enter the estate and the borrower

Who died, how many beneficiaries the estate has, and your borrower's full legal name and date of birth. A probate reference too, if one has been issued. It is not required.

  2. See what other members have recorded

Whether this person has already assigned this inheritance to another member firm, and whether more people have assigned from this estate than it has beneficiaries.

  3. Speak to the other firm, then decide

On a match you each get the other's fraud desk, so you can settle it directly. What you do next is entirely your call.

What the registry checks

Already assigned

The same person has assigned the same inheritance to another member firm. Matched exactly, and flagged to both of you.

Too many claims on one estate

More people have assigned from an estate than it has beneficiaries. This is what catches someone coming back under slightly different details: the name changes, the arithmetic does not.

Works before the grant

Estates are matched on the deceased's details, so you get an answer pre-grant. A probate reference makes the match certain once you have one.

A record of what you were told

Every check is logged, match or not, with the answer and the date. That is your evidence if anyone asks later why you lent.

We flag. You decide.

The registry never blocks a loan and never scores anybody. It has no view on whether you should lend and no way to stop you. It tells you what other member firms have recorded, and the decision stays inside your firm, where it belongs commercially and legally.

A flag is information. It is not a verdict on a borrower and not an instruction to decline.

Your borrower's identity never leaves your firm.

We do not store your borrower's name or date of birth. They are turned into a one-way keyed value the moment you submit them, and the originals are thrown away. What we keep cannot be turned back into a person.

So a match tells another firm that someone they are dealing with is also known to you. Never who your other customers are, and nothing about the rest of your book. Nobody can read a list of who has borrowed from whom, us included.

Pricing

One monthly fee per firm. Nothing per check, on purpose. A registry you have to ration is a registry that goes unused on the application that mattered.

Prices exclude VAT.

Membership

£1,000 per month

  • Unlimited checks
  • 5 users included
  • Every flag the registry raises, with no per-check charge
  • Direct contact with the matching firm
  • Full audit trail of every check

More users

£250 per 5 users, per month

In blocks of 5, beyond the 5 that come with membership. Everyone signs in as themselves, so every check on your audit trail carries the name of whoever ran it.

Put your whole underwriting team on it. A check nobody ran is the one that costs you.

Bolt-on services In development

Further modules, including property tracking, are being built and will be offered separately once they are ready. They are not part of membership and are not available today.

Each is priced on what it actually does, and quoted individually. We would rather tell you a real number when there is something real to buy than publish one now.

Joining

Membership is open to FCA-authorised firms lending against estates and inheritances. Get in touch and we will take you through onboarding, the membership terms, and setting up your firm's fraud desk.
